Google and Walmart’s Partnership Against Amazon
Two days ago, Google announced its partnership with Walmart to collaborate on online shopping. You can read the announcement on Google’s blog post.
Online shoppers can link their Google accounts with Walmart accounts and use Google Express app/website or Google Assistant to order from Walmart.
Google will use the users’ shopping history and also personal info to make personalized product suggestions. Google already has a lot of private information of its users from their engagements on the internet.
The Partnership will allow Walmart to access to the Google’s large user base. Moreover, Google’s artificial intelligence and the eco system can make shopping faster, easier and more efficient.
Amazon already owns 76% market share of online retail and it is hard to challenge Amazon’s dominance in online shopping. The Company has also Amazon Echo as an alternative to Google Assistant.
In this Partnership, it is hard to imagine that Alphabet cannot benefit.
